islam and jehad - clear the misconceptions

It s a general perception about Islam that this religigion favours unjust killings and bloodshed. Actually the problem is with the neo convertants who at any cost want salvationa and are generally mislead by some people who have nothing to do with the religion either their primary motive is to get some personal benefits.
for instance i must quote some examples from Islamic history which establish the fact that Islam favours peace.
Dr. Naseem Uz Zafar cmpares the Jehad with a wall. For him it is like a wall which never go ahead an inch to enroach the human rights but also deny to lose an inch when encroached.
Malik e Ashtar was the commander of the forces lead by Caliph Ali in Siffin. On the day of fight he came broad-chestened to Hazrat Ali and said, Maula today more of unbeleivers were slained by my swordthen yours. The reply from the Caliph shocked his pride. Ali replied dear there is a differance in the way of your fight and that of our. You just primarily treat every opponent as an enemy but we treat him as a Human first. We see that either their is a sign of beleif in him or not. Continuing he said , Ashtar if all humans lay down to your sword then to preach the religion to whom? To the heap od dead bodies? Ashtar try to avoid bloodshed afterall religion is composed of human beings if thier are no human then the religion has nothing to do in this world.
Their is an another story from Hazrat Ali.
In the battle of Uhud, the commander of the faithful, Hazrat Ali set the new heights for humanism defined by Islam. A famous warriour Amr bib Abd Wuhud challanged the muslims for personal combat. None but thirteen year old Ali came out of the Muslim flanks to accept the challange. Amr refused to fight a child but Ali reminded him of an Arabic custom where only challanger can leave the feild. Amr replied that he may have left if he wasn't afraid of the future mock by Arab women.Insted he asked the conditions to avoid the war. Ali invited him to join the Muslim fold but he refused. Again he asked him to leave but offer was denied,in the last he asked him to make a first assault. Some one said, Ali what is this?None of your offer has a correlation. Ali replied their is. If he accepts Islam the4n it will be unlawful for me to kill him and his life will be saved, if he leves the battlefeild then also it will be unlawful to kill him.Either he makes a first assault, he is a skilled warrior may he be successfull in killing me in that condition also his life will be spared.
For Islam provide all the opportunities even to the deadliest of its enemy to save his life.
Those who kill innocent people in the name of the religion they are against the basic mainframe of Islam
